Island Lake
- Location: Merritt, British Columbia, Canada
Island Lake is a beautiful Lake off highway 97c 77 km from kelowna heading west. Turn at Elkhart exit and then turn left and then right and follow till you just pass paradise lake. Next road on the left is Island Lake. Fish are Large in this Lake and it is stocked regularly.
No Ice Fishing; rainbow trout daily quota = 1 (none under 50 cm); bait ban, single barbless hook.
This Lake is in Region 3-12 and not to be confused with "Island" Big O.K. Lake which is in region 3-18
Fish over 10lbs have been caught here and your chances of hooking a 4lb to 6lb Rainbow Trout are good.
There is a BC Recreational campsite here with around 10 campsites with picnic tables. 1 outhouse.
I hooked and released a few around 12 inches and lost a few around 26 inches.
Fishing Sinking line with leeches works well. Chronomids I used on this trip were light olive green with a gold wire rap and a white beadhead.
